I used the new bing maps a few days ago and it worked very well. The aerial view and photosynth integration were really good, but now I can't use it at all.
Anythime I click on the Maps link from Bing.com, it goes to a blank white page. The only way i can get to any maps from bing is to use the desktop shortcut to the old 3d bing maps that was created when I first used the 3d map feature. That site works in 3d and it has a link on the left side to try the new bing maps. If I click on that link, I get the blank page. If I open a new tab from that link, the new tab shows a subdued map in the background with a window that says "Welcome to the new Bing Maps. You have the newest silverlight version installed." There is a link that says "Start", but clicking it goes to the same blank page.
I've tried restarting the computer, removing silverlight and reinstalling it.Any ideas?
I think Bing maps is down. I can't use it either. It worked fine for me last night.
It would be nice if they would let us know proactively instead of making us think the
problem is at our end, leaving us to tweak our machines into oblivion trying to get it to work!!!
I have the same exact problem using IE 8. Just installed Silverlight 4. Going to maps.bing.com results in a blank page everytime!! No errors and status bar just says "Done".
Same page, maps.bing.com works fine in Google Chrome. Talk about irony!
Okay, I still cannot use MAPS.BING.COM, but things have changed a bit. Now instead of getting a completely blank page I get the bing toolbar, search bar and a "Bing Maps" watermark with a "Just a moment..." indicator. Notice the status bar indicates "Done". (I'm not running any special script engines or anything like that, just out-of-box IE8)
Here is a screenshot:
I'm right there with you. Haven't been able to use it for days. The Bing Classic seems to work, but why would I want to use that? BING anyone out there?
Same problem here for days.
How does one get to Classic? The URL keeps directing me to /maps/explorer which is the new one.
Down in the bottom right hand corner. "Back To Classic"
I remember that but what if all you see is the blank screen like shown above? Is there a way to reset your browser cache or registry entry to point back to classic?
I think I figured out the problem which existed for me with Internet Explorer. I use Mozilla Firefox but updated my IE recently. For some reason the IE update blocked internet connection to many of my applications, and some within Mozilla (Bing Maps as an example). What fixed it for me was to open IE and do the following:
Tool -> Internet Options
On the Advanced tab:
Restore Advanced Settings and Reset Internet Explorer settings.
Hope this works for you all.
yap some time bing become down.
For any of you that are getting this white screen...
If the page is bing.com/maps/explore....., please ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight installed.
