Well, it's official! The Our School Needs contest has come to an end, and the votes have all been tabulated. Our grand prize winner is Greenfield Hebrew Academy from Atlanta, GA. Their entry, "Roof Right Now" featured a well-crafted essay detailing the leaky liability over their heads, and a slick hip-hop video.
There are also three first place winners from each category (K-6, 7-9, 10-12):
There's an additional $25,000 special prize we will be awarding this week, and the judge for this prize is no stranger to identifying special talent. Ryan Seacrest will select one outstanding finalist he feels did a great job illustrating their school's need. But that's not all...
The Bing Education team was overwhelmed with not only the quality of the finalists, but the way each school was able to mobilize their communities around their projects. Over the weekend, we got together and thought about how we could best applaud the efforts of our finalists. That's why we are pleased to announce that we will be giving $5,000 to all the finalist schools that do not win one of the awards listed above!
We hope this will help initiate all the amazing educational projects these schools have planned to achieve. And for those of you that voted and received a Donorschoose.org $3 donation code, please help pile on the contributions to these schools, and redeem your code today! They expire November 30, 2010, so don't delay.
