With more timely Bird's Eye published to Bing Maps, our imagery reflects prominent cities undergoing transformation with respect to cultural landmarks and other types of development. This includes the tremendous strides London has made in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games. Our new imagery reveals major changes to the Olympic venue and its surroundings.

Circa 2008, Bing Imagery Technologies (BITs) published over 1.1 million sq km of Bird's Eye imagery around the world, most notably in the Continental United States plus Western Europe. Since 2009, BITs has published 1,105,738 sq km. That's over 2.2 million sq km of our unique 45 degree perspective now live on Bing Maps. Our latest release was a total of 130 TB of Synthview data, as well as 60 TB of native Bird's Eye.

A Synth (or Synthview) is a style for creating immersive 3D experiences. Some of the best Synths are made up of many overlapping strong textured images and is most useful when you want to capture different sides or details of a particular object. Find Synths on Bing Maps

Our Bird's Eye imagery is extremely popular with end-users because its high-resolution, oblique look angle, and four look-directions provide them with great context for many spatial tasks, such as looking for a new house or planning a vacation.

  • Good to see the maps being updated. Just some questions....When will the Brighton, UK Streetside imagery be added to the maps, as it was on the schedule, but it's not on the maps. Also when when will the other bird's eye be updated for all angles across the UK?

  • Awesome. Rather oddly though a *lot* of London's Streetside is broken...  If you click on the little blue man in, for example, Isle of Dogs (http://binged.it/IW7or4), the blue lines light up all over the map, but if you click on one of these roads to view a road in Streetside mode, the imagery isn't actually there... You just get a blue screen... This is true for a lot of London.

  • I agree with Ali, I have noticed this too. in london such as St James Square.

  • It all looks great, but when will Canada be enjoying expanded Bird's Eye and Streetview coverage? It is becoming increasingly difficult to tell customers that streetview is coming, when Google has had it now in this neck of the woods for several years. We know that the US and Western Europe was the focus when the whole data collection and publication effort by Bing started, but now that we are half-way through 2012, Bing customers in Canada need to get an idea of when new data will be coming here. Thanks for any information possible because I would love to see more of this up here soon!

  • It's great ! Thanks

  • Great news!

  • I have a question, why isn't not letting me view these additions, I click on the blue area with streetside on these new updated for NJ and they don't appear.

  • I have the same problem as MrDanny, there has been an update to several Orange County, CA areas, but when I click on the blue areas, it says "please click on a blue area". Seems to me the coverage was updated to the maps, but the actual streetside data is not yet all there.

  • That's odd, then, they update STREET SIDE, but don't actually go over the roads, yet, I fine that odd, google street view goes over the roads, THEN UPDATES THEM, slowly,

  • I have the same problem as mrdanny I don't get it.

  • BIRD’S EYE - love it! :)

  • Apologies for the delay in response however RE: broken links/issues - we've pushed fixes to the site to address the issues above and please continue to bring issues like this to our attention.

@coreyNL - while I can't tell you WHEN we'll be adding imagery of Canada right now, I can tell you that this is a part of our imagery acquisition planning going on currently.  When I learn more, I will share.

    Thanks for the great feedback!
