Scott Guthrie, Corporate VP at Microsoft, officially kicked off MIX09 this morning. If you aren’t at the show, you don’t have time to watch the webcasts, or aren’t following all the daily twitter action, here are some Live Search-related highlights from the keynote that you might enjoy:

  • Scott showed off the Virtual Earth Silverlight Control, which we’ll be making available to developers on Friday. Silverlight lets Virtual Earth developers take advantage of new features like “deep zoom” navigation, which vastly improves users’ mapping experience. For more about the Virtual Earth Silverlight Control, check out the Virtual Earth Evangelist blog. Or if you’re lucky enough to be at MIX09, don’t forget to check out Chris Pendleton’s session on Friday to hear more.
  • Also announced today was our work with The US’s largest online job site is using the Live Search API and Silverlight to enable employers to search candidate background from places like Facebook, blogs, online articles, etc., all in one search. On Thursday at MIX, Alessandro Catorcini, Senior Program Manager Lead, will talk more about updates to the Live Search API and how we’re working with partners to help differentiate their business. Don’t miss it!
