Thanks to the 50 winners in our $250,000 Sweepstakes to Help Public Schools for choosing so many important and deserving schools across the country. Over 100,000 students have been helped and more than 1,000 public school projects have now been funded by their gift cards as well as by our Bing Rewards members who purchased our discounted DonorsChoose.org $5 gift cards. Twenty-three winners are still deciding how to spend their $5,000 gift cards, so these numbers are certain to rise. And while our sweepstakes ended on October 22, our Hot Deal on $5 gift cards continues through November 1, so Bing Rewards members can still donate to public school projects of their choice for only 99 credits. In the final week of our sweepstakes, the winners drawn for an opportunity to help public school students and their teachers with a $5,000 gift card to DonorsChoose.org were: 1. Tiffany Z. of Keizer, OR who tells us she was smiling all day after learning of her win. She completed the funding of several school projects and is working with a local school in need to set up a project and fund it. 2. Bing Rewards Members Get the Ultimate Bing...

On Monday we welcomed the winners of our Ultimate Bing Experience sweepstakes to the Microsoft campus. Tim and Sally joined us from Minneapolis along with Tina and Joe from Detroit. It was great to meet some Bing Rewards members in person, hear what they love about Bing and get their input on what they’d like to see in the future. The day kicked off with a Bing editorial team meeting where our visitors helped select images for the homepage in January. Kristin Dean, managing editor at Bing, walked through what we look for in photos that we display on the homepage before asking our winners to choose photos for us to run for upcoming holidays and key dates in the new year. Other members of the team who joined us included Stephanie Horstmanshof, senior managing editor at Bing, and Kathleen Green of the media acquisitions group. Kristin Dean explains what goes in to selecting homepage images. Tina shares her thoughts on some of the photos we were considering. Tim jokes with Stephanie Horstmanshof Following a visit to the Microsoft Visitor Center, the employee store and lunch on the Microsoft Commons... Discover News Authors on Bing

Much of the information we consume and search for relates to current events, and the most recent and accurate information often comes from news articles. Behind every article is a journalist, writer or author who has worked hard to research and report on a story. These professionals are experts in their fields, sharing the latest news, developing events and information out with the greater world. Today we’re announcing the addition of news authors to the People Who Know section in the Bing sidebar for customers in the US. Bing’s sidebar helps connect you to these types of people; people who are knowledgeable on the topic you’re searching for including friends you know and experts and enthusiasts you may or may not be familiar with. Now, when you search for a topic, authors who frequently write articles related to your query will appear alongside other experts and enthusiasts in the sidebar. Hover over the person’s name to learn more about them, see their top articles related to your query, or link to their Twitter page. While the sidebar provides a summary for some authors, you’ll see a link to “See all articles” which takes you to...
