The world has nearly 200 countries. How can the avid traveler decide where to go in the new year?
Bing Travel’s latest slide show, Top Destinations for 2010, can help you dwell in the possibilities.
Want to go where the action is? Head to the Winter Olympics this February in Vancouver, British Columbia, or the 2010 FIFA World Cup this June in South Africa. Even if you don’t have World Cup tickets, you can enjoy South Africa’s infrastructure improvements, such as a new train, new hotels and safari lodge renovations.
In May, Marrakech, Morocco, which served as the film location for “Sex and the City 2,” will glimmer in the spotlight when the movie is released. In July, Wrangell, Alaska, will host BearFest, with a film festival, arts fair and bear-country workshops. And in August, foodies will flock to the fifth annual Vibrant Living Expo in Fort Bragg, California.
Hate crowds? You can always go where the action … isn’t. Glasgow, Scotland, is an affordable alternative to expensive London, and it’s a great jumping-off point to Scotland’s highlands and islands. Or try Malaysia or Curacao, both of which are great choices for quiet beach vacations.
Where are you going in 2010, and why are you going there? Share your thoughts with other readers in the comments section.
