This is a place devoted to giving you deeper insight into the news, trends, people and technology behind Bing.
Over the past few weeks, we have released a bunch of new features to Bing Travel. As we highlighted last week, we are adding great social functionality to ensure your friends are part of your travel planning experience, but we also wanted to highlight some other features you can take advantage of in this release.
Updated Places Pages
We’ve continuously improved our Bing places pages, which pull together everything you need to know about a destination or your very own home. In this release we’ve improved the page layout and updated parts for weather, flights, related destinations, and local listings. This is your new one-stop-shop for cities, states, countries, and islands around the world.
In addition, we’ve added new ways to get to the places pages from Bing.com. Our new instant answer even shows your friends who live in or near a city you’ve searched for. As with other social features, you will need to be logged into Facebook and have allowed Instant Personalization.
Bing Travel Wish List
Another exciting way to use our places pages is to add them to your Bing Travel Wish List in Facebook. Once you’ve chosen your dream destination in Bing, just click on the “Add this destination to your Bing Travel Wish List on Facebook” link to share it with your friends.
Flight Deals in Facebook
Sometimes the best updates on deals come from your friends. Now Bing Travel can provide a similar level of help by sending you great deals right in your Facebook feed. Just “like” a flight search result and we’ll send you the best deals from your city as they become available.
David Lindheimer- Director, Bing Travel
Hello,
How does one find "Bing Places" from Bing.com?
Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but the Bing.com menu looks like this:
Web | Images | Videos | Shopping | News | Maps | More
(Should Places be here as well?)
Your screen shot above menu looks like this:
Web | Places | Images | Videos | News | More
('Shopping' would seem a must have from this view, but it's now missing, or replace with 'Places')
Access to 'Maps' of Paris would be good too...no?
I'm new to Bing and that's what I noticed.
Just my Canadian 2 cents.
Thanks,
Maurice
@Maurice
If you look at the very top of all search pages on bing.com you will notice that they all the have the links:
at the top. When you search underneath the search bar, you will get the "tabs" that will change depending on what you search.
so in this case when you go to the US version of Bing, and type in Paris, you will notice that the tabs will be like:
but when you search
bing in bing you get different tabs
Web | Finance | Videos | Videos | News | More
hope this helps.
This blog is the USA Blog, with features only on the USA version of bing, Canada do not have a local blog, only the ones on the bottom right of the community home page,
@Henry,
Maybe there is a difference.
From Canada, when I search Bing.com for Paris I get this tab menu:
Web | Maps | Weather | Images | News | More
Oh well...maybe Canada will be added someday.
Thanks.
