Have you ever thought about what you don’t see when you visit a museum? Yes, we go to see rare and wonderful objects. But most museums don’t have enough space to display entire collections.
So freelance writer Harriet Baskas went exploring, checking out the back rooms, seeking treasures (she is working on a book about museum treasures that are rarely - or never- shown to the public). Some of her bounty, from museums popular and obscure, is shown off in the slide show Hidden Museum Treasures. Among her findings are a spacesuit collection at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., and a flea circus in the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Go on, open up the slide show and explore for yourself.
Your post on hidden museum treasures is incorrect - it lists the Utah Museum of Natural History as being at the University of Salt Lake City, when in reality it is the University of Utah. www.bing.com/.../search
