Are you one of those people who would rather face down a grizzly than venture out, a quarter-mile above Chicago, onto the glass floor of the Willis Tower’s Skydeck? Or do you get a little thrill out of heights? I confess to belonging to the former group; the first time I visited the Grand Canyon and got a little too close to the edge, I got dizzy and lightheaded and had to take a quick step backward.
Our latest slide show, Spectacular Viewing Platforms, will give you a rush, one way or another. Check out some of the world’s most amazing places to take in a great big view, from a glass walkway that juts out over one of the world’s best-known canyons to a thrill ride 900 feet above the Las Vegas desert.
Have you ever visited one of these viewing platforms? Did we miss one? Let us know in comments!
I've been on the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, and let me tell you - it was the scariest ride I have ever been on!
The Insanity ride on top of the Stratosphere is exactly that- INSANITY. It is by far the scariest, most exhilarating, adrenaline rush Ive ever had! People looking for a thrill- do this!
You should have done the Eiffel Tower. It may not be as tall as your other selections, but the views are so lovely. Thank you.
You should have shown the golden arch of St. Louis, which has allot of glass also.
The Infinity Room in the House on the Rock is the best kept secret in America. It is amazingly beautiful. The entire tour is a collection of artifacts from around the world and can keep your interest for days. If you enjoy museums and walking up in the air in the trees, you'll enjoy the House on the Rock and the Infinity Room.
Probably the best viewing platform is free-fall at 14,000 feet after jumping out of a plane. It's really hard to beat the view plus the adrenaline rush of skydiving.
From my experience, the SKY DROP at the Canton Tower in Guangzhou beats them all.
Nice posting friend. Thanks a lot for sharing....
The mighty Himalaya's in India! The view, from some of the highest places in the world is simply gorgeous!
Thank you for making sense of this subject matter. I was getting confused with other information I was finding. You write in an intelligent way.
I can’t match some of the great comments here, but I do know you’re a wonderful writer with a unique perspective. Thank you for sharing.
