  • Really interesting film. I always buy free range eggs but hadn't really thought about checking food labels to see if they include free range eggs. Will do now - and will be telling me friends to do so!

  • Fantastic film! I am privileged to be one of BHWT's volunteers and I would not want to live without ex-battery hens in my garden, life and heart now. They are absolutely wonderful little creatures, each has her own little personality and character, and there truly is no better feeling in the world than giving a tired battery hen her life back.

  • I think it’s a great idea to give a home to these animals, we take them for granted, how nice to see something positive being done for them.  A good attitude to the egg industry too.  Fantastic work being done by the BHWT.

  • I collected my first ex-bats 2 1/2 years ago and would now never be without chickens.  If you have 10 spare minutes per day (allow longer one day per week for cleaning and health checks) then you will have time to look after your hens although I guarantee you will spend much more time with them. They are such a joy.

Picture the scene:  Early morning.  The sun has just risen but there is a crisp feel to the clear morning air.  Faint mist above the ground and dew on the grass.  Spiders webs covered in the early morning dew. You hear them, your ladies, your chickens, conversing about the day ahead - a gentle clucking sound (unless you have one named Margo who has just laid an egg then its a full blast "I'VE JUST LAID AN EGG AND ITS A BLOOMIN BIG-UN!" screeching at the top of the voice!!!!!).  Even with Margo, its wonderful. What a fantastic start to the day and it can only get better when you collect your fresh laid eggs for breakfast.  Marvellous!

Come on join us - BHWT will give you all the support you need and are always at the end of the phone should you have any worries.

    Thank you for reading.
