This is a place devoted to giving you deeper insight
into the news, trends, people and technology behind Bing.
if your site is not in the index, please do the following:
1. verify in our tools that your site is not blocked
2. run a site: query to verify there are no pages in the index
3. Copy the URL of the site query and post on this thread.
I will work with you to at least get your home page indexed. Deeper indexing will require good content and backlinks as described in the FAQ.
im getting bored of waiting for google to crawl my site www.diyanswerdirect.com maybe they will crawl it from here
that's actually not a bad idea... i've also tried to index www.craft4.com several times no, with no joy. i agree, it is very frustrating.
There seems to be many of similar reports lately here, and I believe only Bing programmers can answer this question accurately.
craft4 - are you submitting your website to google quite alot? thats where your problem is. For every site submit to google you have to wait at least a week or month to the date you submitted...so as you keep submitting it you have to wait alot longer. Depending on how often you want them to crawl your site.
Bing is a different search engine altogether. I'm still working how how to get the rest of my pages indexed. I believe it could be all about the content . A perfect content will ..... i'm guessing get u indexed fast.....i'm actually hoping as i have followed all their guidelines. Just have to wait and see now. It is a known fact that search engine submission is not required anymore.....its a thing of the past. Search engines will find you from the link backs to your website....unsure about bing. If your not going out and getting link backs then search engine submission is good practice.
I do not mean to be rude or anything but your diy website's backend content is poor. And needs to be fixed up.
hi brian thanks for the advice what do you mean by backend content is poor, and how would i go about fixing it up. I have only had it for 2 weeks now, any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks lee
look at html validator and css validator. Here you will see the amount of errors. Thats for a start. All search engling love this to be error free
Now I know that Bing is very much in its infancy but we are all aware
that when it comes to M$ if Bill wants something Bill normally gets it.
Therefore it can only be a matter of time before Bing will be up there
with Yahoo and then trying desperatley to compete with Google. My
company PSV Media deals with bus advertising and is on page one of
Google twice and page one of Yahoo for the term "bus advertising
prices" I was more than a little surprised to find that we were nowhere
to be seen on the first few pages of Bing. The next step was to
simply punch in our company name and again there was nothing about us
but a reference to another company using ourselves as one of their case
studies. I then typed in our URL into their search box and it came back
"we did not find any results for www.psvmedia.co.uk"There
is a clicky to add any URLs that you know exist but we have done this
dozens of times over the last month but still no recognition.Although
this is not causing too much concern with the suspected low numbers
using Bing at the moment, I am not naive enough to think that this will
always be the case.I would appreciate any advise as how to rectify this and whether anyone else's website is experiencing this problem with Bing?
I get the same behavior at my site (http://www.printvites.ca). Bing has only indexed 2 pages while both Yahoo and Google are doing a fine and dandy job of indexing my site properly.
Hey Microsoft, you have a new search engine with indexing problems, so FIX IT !!!!
The lack of response from Bing is what is most bothersome. It's also interesting to note just how hard it must be to make a good search engine that can index the entire web with any velocity. Google seems to do it very efficiently. New content on my site is indexed by Google in a matter of days. While all the others competitors struggle to index even my homepage in a matter months.
You are right!
Look guys....microsoft wanted a change because it was always lacking behind google. That's why Mr Bill left. He didn't get what he wanted there. He tried to get ahead of google but failed. So the new guys brought out Bing with a different view to the search engine world so they know they can now give google a run for their money......given time.
The only problem is that they have not yet sorted out the indexing issue, or giving good enough reasons that they had mentioned to me via their support needs to have better answers. If they have sorted the indexing then they are not telling us. Maybe ..... Maybe......everything in the website has to be error free, validated in all areas plus 20 other things before they can index everything. They need more employees contributing the the forums and answering the questions. Bing is a good idea as it works differently to google and yahoo. Just lets see how it is in the next 3 years. I think and hope they can sort this as i'd like to see this search engine working differently.
I've noticed only one of my pages show up... http://www.cityfitted.com
Sadly, Bing seems to be like pretty well everything else from Microsoft. The idea is good but the software fails to do its job.
Then, when the entire world is saying, "Hey, your scripting sucks!" you will find they will do their usual trick of buying their way into every market and so 'force' their offerings upon us.
The very fact that this thread is as popular as it is shows just how badly their search system blows.
Looking through this thread so far I would comment that if the search script used was any good at all it wouldn't need a site map, HTML, XML, or anything else for that matter.
What's next? Using meta tags for contents and keywords?
The bottom line is that Microsoft have got it wrong AGAIN, and have tried to jump in to the search engine market BEFORE their product (Bing) is ready for 'release'. They (Microsoft) know that the engine isn't yet ready and have said so. Where? Why, on every page of the site (look closely and you will see the word BETA under the logo on every page).
Maybe they meant to say 'Better' but they used the spell checker on MS Word :-)
Seems there is something going on in Bing search engine. My blog was indexed in Bing and day to day the indexed urls are decreasing and finally there are only two urls Bing indexed in my site. I am really surprised and disppointed the way it is working. I don't know where the problem is. I answered to so many people in Bing, but finally I am facing the problem. Who knows what the problem is?
I would accept only a couple of my pages being recognised but not only does it fail to recognise my company name PSV Media, if I type in my full website address www.psvmedia.co.uk it fails to recognise that. The site has been live for over two years so how the **** can it not recognise it????
I have submitted my URL to Bing 20 or 25 times over the last 4 weeks and still nothing!!!!
