CAPTCHA

This question is answered

Is anyone else frequently being asked to fill out a CAPTCHA form because of a high level of activity believed to be automated programs? I've had one twice this week and it's getting rather irritating.  I realise I'm frequently using Bing but surely frequent visits and high activity is to be expected by a major search engine?

Anyone else having a similar issue?

Thanks

Archie

  • I included it in things I wish improved in Bing Community way back in September last year: http://www.bing.com/community/forums/t/650170.aspx. I'm still waiting for them to implement an alternative that won't be an inconvenience to genuine members.

I have my business to take care of and so, I need to be fast while browsing the threads here, to know which ones need urgent attention. But being that fast is always hindered by Captcha. Yet, I see a lot of spams around, especially those with big photos and numerous links to online pharmacies.

  • Like I said in that post, the system has sessions enabled and sessions can cause a lot of unintended headache and discomfort.

The last time I heard from Kristin, she said they were waiting to implement all the updates (improvements) to the Community at once.

Thanks QD - it's not so much the CAPTCHA that bothers me, it's just the frequency of its appearance.  Bing really does need to find a solution which enables them to tell genuine contributors from spammers.  You're a lot more active than me so I dread to think how often it must appear with you - if I got it daily I don't think I'd be still here.

Looking at that thread you showed me Bing were going to do something about this soon - september last year....

    Thanks for the info
