I've had it with this forum

This question has suggested answer(s)

this forum is just deliberately trying to annoy me - I just spent over half an hour writing a response to a thread, and when I attempted to post it, guess what?  Yes, I get the BLOODY ANNOYING MODERATION MESSAGE!!!!!!!

Meaning that my post wasn't published and my time was completely wasted.

And it's not as though it's the first time... this has been going on for AGES!!!

I've tried to patiently wait for the numerous issues with this forum to be fixed; I'm not waiting any longer - I am wasting hours of my time if I try to help people here and my posts don't get published.

I will be posting in Google's forums from now on

Goodbye Bing

  • When you click Back, your message is gone, that is the worst part : (

I also have faced this issue multiple times:

Lets hope Brett sees this thread.

  • I too have faced this issue. Does anyone know why that happens.

I had it happen on one thread, and my reply never showed up. Went back a few hours later and tried to add a similar response and it didn't show up either. However, other replies were getting listed. And my first of three replies did show up. I thought maybe it was because I listed about five other websites within my second and third replies..even though I didn't make any of them links... So I don't know. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

I may be wrong, but it looks like, this happens when you include a link [not live] with this prefix:

    h t t p : / / w w w

    Remove the spaces:

Lets see if this post gets in the moderation queue or not : )

  • I don't think I did that. however I did start one out with "dir.". But I'm not 100% certain I didn't, either. I'll try to remember to update this thread the next time I have it happen.

  • Is there anything in the message that would prompt this? Any words that may be on a moderation list? We really value your presence in the community so would like to try and resolve this before you go to another forum to have these discussions.

    Thanks,

That's the thing - the message comes up completely randomly.  I think it may be to do with having URL's, live or not, in a post, but again, in one post I can, and another I can't - the problem is that most of the URL's I include in my posts are copied from my browser address bar, and are therefore automatically hyperlinked, and then having to go through them all and un-link them and remove http:// etc is just getting too unbearable.  Another instance is that the post I most recently attempted to reply to, I had to include the http:// prefix as I was advising on how to add a sitemap reference to a robots.txt file.

There's several problems with the script that runs this community; Yasir has pointed out some quite major coding errors here:

It would be good if the spam filtering was set at a lower level for those who are frequently active here; I know the measures are there to prevent spamming, but the annoyance it causes to those who come here and try to post advice that the system refuses to publish is high.

I have mentioned this particular issue at least twice before:

    bing.com/community/forums/p/657758/9587165.aspx

    bing.com/community/forums/p/658929/9597123.aspx

These are some suggestions that I posted a while back that I think would greatly improve the Bing Community for its users:

    bing.com/community/forums/p/658439/9592524.aspx

I enjoy helping out here and am glad that my contributions are valued, but I'm not willing to invest any more of my time here until some serious improvements have been made to the community.

    Thanks

    Archie

  • Looking into this.

  • Responded to you offline.

    Responded to you offline.

Are you sure you didn't reply to me? I got a message: " I've made a couple user moderation changes..."

From this thread. When I click on the link in my email it took me here and your response is not shown...

  • Hi,

I responded to him via email and deleted the message you are referring to.

  • WOW... I am in shock. If Archie, who has been around Bing for a long time and defended Bing from people who have attacked it is unhappy and leaving then the issue is serious. I think Moderators should address this situation rapidly. I think of all the people I have seen participating in Bing Forums, Archie is one of the most active members and always adds valuable information to help resolve questions and concerns.

  • Hi Archie,

It's sad to hear you want to leave, though I understand your frustrations. I have also experienced the moderation issue in the past, but not recently.

I beg you to stay and continue to assist here. No script is perfect and we're looking forward to the MS coders to rectify the issue as soon as possible. It seems they're waiting to do a major upgrade all at once, which is taking ages.

On the side, I got some emails yesterday that some posts I made over two months ago have been approved. This shows they're approving posts, but not fast in doing so. It's actually not a good idea to place moderation for posts when no one is actually attending to pending posts on a regular basis.

  • Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread

According to Brett this issue should now be sorted, so hopefully I'll be able to continue helping here without running into this annoying message every now and again.

  • I just had it happen to me again. And I did include http:/...in the comment. Was copying and pasting a bad line in someones robots.txt file. Just an fyi. Looks like that is indeed the culprit as others have suggested.

  • The issue seems to have been fixed, but for a select few. I got an email from Brett today saying that he had made it possible that my posts shouldn't be moderated anymore.
