Testing BingBot's Present Crawling Speed Of New Sites

  • Now that Bing has started to power Yahoo Search in the US and Canada, I'm testing its present speed of crawling and indexing new websites.

    What I did:

    1. I registered a new domain name yesterday.
    2. I created a site for it and uploaded it to my server.
    3. Then I submitted the site and sitemap to Google, Yahoo and Bing.
    4. I started pointing a couple of backlinks to the site.

All the four (4) above-mentioned actions were taken yesterday. I want to see how many days it will take Bing and Google to index the site and if the search alliance between Bing and Yahoo helps to increase Bing's indexing speed of new websites.

Speedy indexing of websites, among other things, will substantially help Bing to be a real competitor to Google. If it still remains sluggish, then the programmers have to do something about it.

  • Hi Quality Directory,

I'm a fan of the long index that Bing favours at the moment, but we recently launched a small catering site and found it listed in 6 days using the 'Add URL' function. It now rides high for its keywords. So I think that things are changing.

On a lighter side, a faster index time would definitely reduce the amount of "Why isn't my site listed" queries on this forum ;-)

  • I am very interested in seeing the results of this test : )

    Will wait for your update:

  • Me too :)

  • I am also waiting for that. let's wait and watch.....

  • Thanks guys for replying! I will try the 'Add URL' function Wine Merchant suggested.

  • An Update:

As of today Google has indexed five (5) web pages out of all the site's seven pages, Yahoo has indexed only the homepage and Bing has not indexed any web page.

This is very interesting, as Bing is taking over Yahoo Search.

  • Quality Directory
Bing has not indexed any web page

Bing is always the slowest one : )

I think Bing is going to take 1+ months to index the first page : )

  • Yes Yasir, I'm aware that Bing is very slow but wanted to test it out, since it's merging with Yahoo Search.

    An Update:

The site has fallen off Yahoo index as of today. When I search for the domain name in both Yahoo and Bing, only a link from my directory comes up. Like I said yesterday, Yahoo had it in its index, but apparently gone today because of the migration testing.

  • you should wait for index whole website in all the search engine because all the search engine have different algorithm.

  • Did you at all read my original post?

  • An Update:

Bing and Yahoo have indexed the new site today! This is great and as can be seen from this, Bing has become faster in indexing new sites. Remember I just registered the domain name on the 25th of this month (August) and created a site the same day. Gratefully Bing indexed it on the sixth six day.

  • Another Update:

The site has a total of seven (7) web pages and Google has indexed all of them, while Bing and Yahoo has indexed only the homepage.

  • I have found an article about SEO techniques for bing.  I would like to share that.
