Ok, so I know our Bird's Eye imagery is cool and all (did I just say that?); but, the London Executive web site makes it looks incredible. I received a comment on one of my blog posts regarding the London Executive PropertyBird site which is exceptionally clean and quite useful for searching for both real estate and rental properties. Leveraging Microsoft Virtual Earth , they've use the map based searching that we're seeing across the industry and essentially said, "Why navigate to Bird's Eye when you can just have it!" Cartographic and aerial/hybrid maps are still available, but with this functionality and user experience I can't think of why you'd need them. Real Estate companies should take...

NBC Weather Plus has integrated some seriously slick weather tracking data with Microsoft Virtual Earth . The site uses Adobe Flash to render Virtual Earth tiles, then overlays rasterized, opaque weather tiles to visualize weather around the US. In fact, if you try to navigate out of the US it will stop you - yes, I tried that. :) You can view the weather on an aerial or cartographic map; adjust the transparency of the weather; quickly zoom to a national view; or view the spotlight (my fav). The spotlight focuses on a particular city - today was Phoenix, AZ. I assume that has something to do with the fact that it's 77 degrees there today (February). Yeah, it's raining and 45 today in Seattle...

I've had this sitting in my inbox for a couple weeks, but for those of you who hadn't heard the long awaited return of the Traffic by Live Search Maps Vista Gadget has arrived. The Pacific Northwest real estate market search for real estate is now complete. If you want to find a home in the PacNW chances are you will be using Microsoft Virtual Earth to view your locations. I love this battle royale going on up here between John L. Scott , Coldwell Banker Bain , RedFin and Windermere . Windermere was using Google Maps and is still using ESRI maps in some spots, but they've launched their 3rd beta for their new "Property Point" site with Virtual Earth and this application is smokin'! The map-based interface gives you all the options you could ever want to filter results on. The maps are loading super fast and they'll pop up notifications to let you know the search is...

David Carradine has spoken. Yellow Book is the latest portal to agree to use Microsoft Virtual Earth for their mapping needs. Search by product / service or business name and by location. They use AJAX to determine the location you're typing - which I love - start typing and a location result list offers you the options available based on the letters you've entered. They use WhitePages.com for their White Pages and Reverse Lookup search. White Pages is still using MapPoint Web Service . You can do a radius search by entering an address and selecting the radius distance. You can also get driving directions by selecting "details" on any given location and entering the starting address into the...

I had to take a trip down memory lane for this one. I grew up in So Cal and if you've read my blog you know I call San Diego home, but a little known secret is that I actually spent about 10 years in Los Angeles. Not LA proper, but LA County - Santa Clarita to be exact. I moved there when I was young and went to Arroyo Seco Jr. High and Saugus High School and actually even went to College of the Canyons (JC) for a spell. Obviously, I ended up back in San Diego graduating from SDSU (twice - BA, MBA) and got a chance to cruise my old digs near Oneonta Elementary School in Imperial Beach. You're welcome for the dissertation of my life, but it has meaning - yes my life, but I'm referring to why I...
