Virtual Earth Featured on CNN

A couple days ago, CNN was broadcasting news about the horrific weather in the Midwest. Well, it turns out they have a new option for illustrating their news stories with maps and imagery - Microsoft Virtual Earth. Check out the video below where CNN's Chad Myers highlights extreme weather by using the high resolution photography in Virtual Earth 3D to show users Lake Delton and the area where the lakeside bay eroded spilling the lake across the roads into the Wisconsin River destroying some of the homes in it's path.

How great is that visualization?!? I guess living in Seattle isn't so bad, after all.

Does this mean that CNN is using Virtual Earth vs Google Earth now? CNN was one of the first tv networks to frequently use GE - so now maybe they've moved on to the latest and greatest - VE!

Well, we're not going to hold a gun to their heads but they certainly have the option of using Virtual Earth instead of Google Earth. I suppose it comes down to the editors preference...does he need high resolution aerial photography or relatively low resolution satellite imagery? :)
