Here's an intersting application of Bing Maps and the Microsoft Surface touch computing unit brought together to provide an enterprise green assessment application. SE7EN: Green Initiative, from the Telos Corporation, provides a secure view of an organizations power and processing efficiency, reporting energy consumption, carbon footprint, and facility benchmark and assessment data sets.
The application is hosted on the Microsoft Surface and allows for touch control and collaboration, given its ability to support multiple users simultaneously working on its table top. Bing Maps provides context to data through its road maps, satellite and aerial views and users can navigate and explore locations relevant to operational data just as you might expect from a Bing Maps application, but through hand gestures. It's very cool.
Telos has a video that walks you through all the application features that can be found on their web site. Note that the video was created prior to our Bing Maps rebrand so the voiceover includes references to Virtual Earth rather than Bing Maps. But you'll recognize our great basemap imagery and data visualization capabillities begining at around 1:05. Keep an eye out for the floorplans registered on top of corresponding buildings. This is made possible by our Mapcruncher tool that is included with the Bing Maps Developer kit and that allows you to register raster images directly onto our basemap tiles.
