MapPoint 2010 is now available for purchase and trial. For those of you who don’t know, MapPoint 2010 gives you more power to visualize business data, communicate insights with instant impact, and integrate maps into the work you do in Microsoft Office. New features include map settings to choose display details, expanded pushpins, and the ability to send routes to your GPS device.* This release is fairly significant, so as I normally do, I figured it would be wise to step through some of the new features for you.
You can do this for each of the 6 map styles (Road, Road and Data, Data, Terrain, Political and Night). You can also chance the fonts on the map to better support your needs for reading the map data…and to help those farsighted folks.
A couple things to note:
Kudos to the MapPoint team for continuing to plug away at this hugely useful and cost effective product. At the very least, you should download the free trail and try it out. Then, use Bing Cashback to find a copy and get some cash put back on your credit card for using Bing to find your purchase.

Chris,
Do you know when Mappoint 2010 will be available to MSDN Subscribers?
Thanks
Emmanuel
MSDN - October 1.
Thanks for the link to my MapFeatures article at MP2KMag. I also wrote a more general overview of the additions to MapPoint 2010, which MP2KMag published here:
www.mp2kmag.com/a157--2010.gps.layer.control.mappoint.html
It is a good update, adds some much requested features, fixes some MapPoint 2009 problems, and adds a few small changes which should increase usability quite a bit (eg. pushpin hiding, and selected area pushpin deletes).
Is MapPoint 2010 available for indian users.?
Hey Chris, with 3D & Birdseye it looks like Bing Maps are on
their way. I have invented a new type of Bing Maps-type feature that is as unique as 3D or Birdseye. I would love to
give you a 20 min. presentation. cheers, Eric ESM Inc.
@nikhil - Sorry, but no, it is not.
Will MapPoint 2010 trial files be translated in french?
@Chris Pendleton - Any Future plan for indian version release in coming time.
@Nikhil I can't comment on any (potentially or other) unreleased products.
MapPoint European Edition is translated into French. The North American version is not.
interesting parallels to Google Maps, but definitely worth having a look. Thank You!
Seems like a hefty price tag for something that's not a lot different than Google Maps. Integration into Microsoft Office...is it really worth that?
GMaps doesn't work offline. If you're connected, you may as well use Bing Maps. Offline or online, we've got you covered.

MapPoint Desktop and the MapPoint Web Service for that matter were established products long before Google purchased Keyhole and got into mapping. Also, the products are all quite different. I would say there are more differences than there are parallels in terms of mapping software.'
By the way, we published a lot of MapPoint 2010 information here --
