As I mentioned in my previous content update blog post, Bing Maps Imagery Release, January 2010 (Part 1), the amount of data being released into Bing Maps for January was so large that we have to break it into two releases to publish it. So, with that, I give you the second half totally 446,000+ square kilometers of new ortho imagery:

  • Brisbane (Australia)
  • Brisbane International Airport Area (Australia)
  • Gold Coast (Australia)
  • Murarrie-Raby Bay (Australia)
  • Auckland (New Zealand)
  • United Kingdom (21,000+ sq km)
  • Santa Barbara, CA (USA)
  • Crested Butte, CO (USA)
  • Copper Mountain, CO (USA)
  • Erie, PA (USA)
  • Pittsburgh, PA (USA)
  • Additional areas of interest around the world including Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa, Swaziland, Morocco, Namibia, Botswana, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Turkey and Romania.

Check the Bing Maps World Tour for full details of the release. This, plus Part 1 of the January 2010 release equates to over 1 million sq. km. of new imagery just for this month. Holy smokes!

  • That's awesome. One place that really needs to be updated is the east coast of Canada. It has poor quality through almost all of it.

  • Bangladesh not in this list

  • Looks interesting to find some places

  • Any chance you will be updating Saudi Arabia?? I'm currently implementing a "hack" to use Google Maps tiles inside of Virtual Earth due to the POOR quality of Saudi Arabia maps.

I know you guys have more money that Google, so you should be *at least* as good.

  • Hi, I am new to this section... I have a travel website and wanted to find the details regarding incorporating maps to my website.

    Thanks.Linda Jnekins

  • I agree on Saudi Arabia. Look at the quality of NW Arabia along the Gulf of Aqaba in Google maps compared to Bing maps. I use Bing maps except for areas like this in the Middle East (for archaeology work) as Bing maps has poor coverage there.

  • We'll get the rest of the world at some point.
