Last month we pushed out our largest amount of new imagery EVER in terms of square kilometers. This month, we’re blowing THAT record out of the water. You thought 1 million+ sq. km. was large? How about 6.7 million square kilometers! It’s pretty much unfathomable. The big winners? Aerial: The Russian Federation, Australia, Mexico and most places in the US where we had black and white imagery. Bird’s Eye: Sweden. Deets:

Check out the Bing Maps World Tour for visuals. Also, Johannes has a sweet application for viewing imagery based on shape files. Niiiice.

I honestly think country-specific URLs for Bing Maps is a BAD idea. It's a real pain to have to change country settings just to see a map in more detail. It is also difficult for third-party apps that send a user to a map based on geo-location - they have to guess which country the location is in and then direct to the country-specific URL. If Google Maps can offer the whole world in http://maps.google.com, why can't you?
Thanks for this information. Best regards
I was happy to see buffalo, ny got an update but after closer inspection in the world tour, the pictures look the same as the previous pictures.
When are you guys planning to update maps for India? How can you guys not focus on 1.2 billion people living there?! Maps of India on Bing are poor and terrible to say the least!
I'm looking at this BirdsEye mode to build a interactive silverlight application, and wonder if I can get meta data of hiding area by buildings.

Hey great! Do you have any idea when an update to Buenos Aires imagery might be released? Thanks!
I am from Sri Lanka. Here we are struggling with out proper aerial map. Civil war came to an end last year. Lot of humanitarian deminig is ongoing in the Northern Sri Lanka. Some of the development activities are alteady started and I shall be thankful if Bing can assist on this. Having an areal imagery will definitely help us to identify the objects and to plan accordingly.
@umapathyxp - We'll get there at some point. Sri Lanka isn't high up on the ranking, but we'll definately get coverage there at some point.
