The King of Bing Maps competition is closed! We will soon know who is our King of Bing Maps. Below are the applications that were submitted as part of the King of Bing Maps competition and boy did we get some good ones. Check out the apps below – all built with cloud-based data services or KML, Bing Maps and Silverlight 4. I’ll go through deep dives of each application sometime next week; or, if you’re more of a hands on kind of person you can try the applications right now on Bing Maps. We are getting SO CLOSE to the coronation of our King!
Taxi Fare Calculator: Taxi Fare Calculator helps users predict a taxi fare between two addresses.
World of Football: The World of Football has 2 main components: 1) it pulls in recent soccer scores from international leagues through an RSS feed (scorespro.com) and 2) zooms people into the soccer stadiums of teams they search for.
Random Location: Random Location simply generates a random set of coordinates (excluding any in an ocean) and takes the user to those coordinates.
Ricky’s Data Viewer: Ricky’s Data Viewer provides users with the ability to upload custom or pre-created map-shape files to view information on Bing Maps.
Apo-AT: Displays pharmacies in Austria.
Festivals de Theatre: Displays theatres participating in the Festivals de Theatre.
GeoSalesTax: GeoSalesTax overlays a “heat map” over the United States to display sales tax rates around the country.
Microsoft Regional Directors: Microsoft Regional Directors provides a list of all the global regional directors at Microsoft and related information (background, blog/twitter accounts, location).
