There have been hints for a while that we were going to be releasing an API for Search this year, but we had hoped that it would stay quiet for just one more week. It didn't and there is no reason to cry over spilt milk. The API itself will be released next week, but you can read about it now.  The article is light on details, but we will provide more next week. Chandu Thota posted about the Virtual Earth APIs and did not skimp.

  • Congratulations:

This is long overdue - a very smart and competative move - so-o many new ideas can develop and be contributed.

It would be nice to have a separate help Forum or Blog just for ideas resulting from developing the API

  • Certainly a welcome development, even if it did leak a week prior to the scheduled announcement date.

I look forward to the details being release and (hopefully) some standardization on the API front.

Well done in getting up to speed in a hurry MSN!
  • Yeah, well done! Hey and Google has been only a 3,5 year forward ;-) But to be honest: they did not used the forward at all. So it up to you now.

Just downloaded the docs and the class design looks quite sensefull. However the SDK download is broken and the search itself times out. Looks like your website is updated but the search is not yet available. Are you waiting for Bill to announce it on PDC today?

I'll give it another try later.

  • Will there be an api available for the new ppc search services from MSN for bid management companies? How do we gain access to it?
  • I'm not sure how many caught the c|net news article late last week, or the short and sweet confirmation on the MSN Search Blog last week, but it's really true. MSN is coming through with their own API for people...

  • I read your blog post regarding motoring with much interest and would like to invite you to write a blog post exclusively for our website on the topic of irresponsible road users and bad behaviour on our roads. Please feel free to write your own views
