The dark days of winter are brightened by the thousands of twinkling lights that festoon homes, buildings, shops and parks as the holiday season approaches. Spectacular light displays begin as early as November and manage to outdo themselves year after year.
Holiday lights can be seen from Manila to Manhattan and from Branson, Missouri, to British Columbia. In a new photo gallery from Bing Travel, we’ve collected our favorite sparking holiday displays worldwide. For example, synchronized light-and-sound shows delight visitors to Walt Disney World and light up the exterior of Brussels’ Town Hall. Meanwhile, window displays at top department stores in Paris and London depict fairytale scenes and Niagara Falls is illuminated in a rainbow of colorful lights.

Meanwhile, here in Britain the credit crunch has had its effect on the festivities; local towns aren't going all out on decorations as they used to, they're cutting costs and Christmas is not off limits!

You guys should consider photographing the X-Mas light display in Medellin, Colombia it's unlike anything you ever seen before.
I agree with John, Medellin, Colombia has probably the best Christmas display in the world
The best Light show in the USA, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Rhema Bible Church 98 acre campus!
The best holiday displays I can remember are the beautiful street lighting which I remember seeing in our middle-class neighbourhood in Brooklyn, NY, USA, when I was a child. The lights were hung between the telephone polls on both isdes of the streets. Being little, & being Jewish, I didn't know what the lights were for -- and just assumed our neighbourhood was celebrating how wonderful it was.
As I grew, I learnt the meaning of these displays, and -- as a proud native New Yorker, have always been enthralled and super-proud of the Rocekefeller Center Christmas tree in mid-Manhattan. World-famous...and right there in my home town!
Wish I could say the same for Chanukka displays -- but alas, under Jewish "Law" they are forbidden to be beyond a certain height. This is the SEASON for lavish displays and showing how happy one is....but menorahs are not allowed to be pretty and there is no competition between them. Sad! I think this is taking the "fairness doctrine" a bit too far! I prefer Christmas, and Christmas trees and Christmas displays -- and always shall!
