If you were to choose one fantastic activity for each state in the U.S., what would it be?
In a new Bing Travel slide show, we provide our top recommendations for an awesome vacation in every state of the union. Some of them are popular tourist favorites, such as Times Square in New York City; while others are less well-known, such as Lehman Caves in Nevada. We bring you the urban, like Stockyards City in Oklahoma; the natural, like Wyoming’s famed wildlife; the tasty, such as Vermont’s Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory; the scenic, like Big Sur in California; and the adventurous, like shooting the rapids on West Virginia’s New River.
Of course, we may not have included your own favorite destination or activity. What are you planning to see on your summer vacation? Share your thoughts with other travelers in the comments section.
Great slide show.

I'm planning a trip to Canada but in the US one of my favorite summer destinations is Napa Valley in California. Lots of great wine, cute little places to stay and quality restaurants.

There so many places to visit in this great nation of ours, some are even in our own back yards. My wife and I just got back from visiting Boothbay Harbor ME. This place is amazing. We highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sightseeing, boating, shopping and great food. The locals are wonderful. Our next adventure is to Outer Banks in North Carolina. Can’t wait!
I'M GOING TO VERMONT.
YAY.
The slide for Ohio does not do the state justice. As a life-long resident I am so sick of travel articles like this one continally holding up Cedar Pointless as the best place to visit in the state! I've been to Cedar Point. It's not THAT great! There is so much more we have to offer. COSI (one of the best science centers in the nation), The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium (# 1 in the nation), Hocking Hills, the Ohio Penitentiary, Kings Island (WAY better than Cedar Pointless) The Ohio State Fair...need I go on?
I'd love to do each and every one of these things. I've done a few but this could be a great goal for me, my bucket list. I appreciate you covering things that are not necessary the best thing or the most popular just something very different. Thanks
An awesome vacation in Michigan is to visit Hitsville USA in Detroit? Are you kidding? There is significance to the place, but what about the Upper Peninsula, the Great Lakes, Northern Michigan? Due to the hard-hit economy in the area (in which I live and try to make a living), I haven't had a vacation in a while, but it will NOT be to visit Motown.
I'm from Utah; and there's much, much, much more to see in Utah than The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Yes, they have been honored and performed at prestigious places and events. But, that is not THEE thing to see. In fact, take your pick: Park City, Zions National Park, the famous arches, Historic 25th Street in Ogden, any one of the thousands of trails to hike, backpack into Mirror Lake for a secluded stay, and the Sundance Film Festival. There are a million things to do in Utah. It's gorgeous country, and not to mention has "the best snow on earth" for a winter vacation. There's so much more to Utah than Mormons.
I'm headed to Mackinac Island in Michigan next month. Can't wait!
Love this slideshow! Makes me think of all the places I still need to go and eat;-)
