Hello All,
I just launched a new version of my site - http://www.whistlerplatinum.com, we used to have great rankings with bing. When re relaunched with different URL's bing failed to register the 301 redirect from the old page to the new page, we have now lost all our rank and bing thinks each page is brand new. NOT HAPPY!
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Cheers,
Greg.
Not sure why Bing does this, but it seems to have been happening a lot recently. Brett (Bing) is the person to contact RE this:

Hello Greg,
Can you please tell exactly what the proble is? I'm little confused from your query. Can you please explain your problem so I that we can able to answer your query.
Bing is now considering 301 redirects and rank pages as well. Do you mean by single page or whole website.
Please provide more information!!

It might take a bit more time than you would naturally expect, but Bing will eventually recognize the 301 redirect rule.
If you can't wait, I will suggest you contact Brett Yount, as suggested before.

Hi Greg,
I'll take a look at this as soon as I can. That said, by design, our crawler usually takes 2-3 crawls before it registers the redirect.

Hi Brett,
Thanks for the reply. Any luck working out what the problem is? It's a shame to see our page disappear from Bing rankings after putting in the hard work to ensure all the redirects were in place. It seems like we have been punished for creating a much better version of our site and would of been better running with the old one.
i'm a little confused as to why the crawler would take 2-3 crawls to register the redirect :-/
Could you expand on this at all?

That is exactly what I was thinking. Our rankings have dropped dramatically in the interim whilst we are waiting for it to recognize the redirects. By the time it does recognize it wouldn't the old page of disappeared from bing's index meaning rankings won't go back up?
Maybe, just maybe, to make sure the 301 redirect is not accidental.

I think it may take time to become effective; please wait for some time and then check; i think it will be ok next time.
Thanks.

Of course Brett you will help this out, but what might be the reason behind this. is this because of the change in the search engine algorithms or any other factor.
Thanks

Al the major search engines implement similar measures in doing certain things. You will gain back the lost ranking after the hiatus.
