My website suddenly dropped from 30 indexed pages to 4:http://www.bing.com/search?q=site%3Agambiaguesthouse.net&go=&form=QBLH&filt=allAt the bing webmaster tools my domain is not blocked and my score is strangly enough still 5 of 5.
I noticed that I am getting backlinks from pages called "Parça Kontörler | Site Arama Sonuclari Parça Kontörler" or "holiday cottages uk | Site Arama Sonuclari holiday cottages uk" which I have never heard of, and which I am not linking to.I already knew that search engines penalty websites that have spam links to them, but I didn't ask for links from these fishy sites and I don't understand why Bing punishes me for it.(In Google I still have all my 65 pages indexed and a pagerank 2).
Can someone please tell me what I can do about this? Can I contact Bing to tell them that I have nothing to do with those spam sites?

Hi,
you are not being penalized in any way. Your rank is low, but it is getting better. I would push for more backlinks.
As a side note, having lots of bad backlinks can hurt your site, but a few high quality links pretty much nullifies the bad--and gives you a better rank. in other words
5 bad + 1 really good = 1 really good (not 0)
(these are only example numbers)

I personally think that backlinks cannot hurt a site: where outbound links can.
We have no control over who links to us: so I think that is why, BLs cannot hurt.
May be the reason why you are seeing a fluctuation in indexed pages is because your site is new? Registered on: 2009-06-17
New sites have lot of fluctuation in ranking and indexing. To get stable ranking/indexing, your site needs to attract Good backlinks. The bad BLs your site is getting, will most probably be ignored.
Yes - it doesnt really matter who links to you. Its whether you are linking to them which causes problems. Bad sites linking to you are simply worthless.
There has been a lot of fluctuation with Bings index recently. My site is initially saying there are 90 pages indexed, but when I try to view them on 27 present.
As long as you are there thats the most important thing. People can find your homepage and navigate through. Its only an issue where your key pages are not indexed - like a homepage!

Okey, I understand your explanation.
But why is my site also removed from the yahoo index within a couple of days now.And I am concerned, I do not want it removed from Google (which brings me 80% of my traffic).I've been thinking about it, I am linking to about 50+ guesthouses.
Could it be that one of these guesthouse site are link farming or something like that?Is there a way to find this out about a website?

Hi Peter,
Your amount of indexed pages with bing can also decrease for other reasons. 2 of those reasons are, forcing or redirecting your domain name. And updating your webpages.

It can take up to 4 months if you didn't get indexed for a while.

But if youre worried use a no follow meta tag on the pages with the links.

I HAVE been using sitemaps but every timeI submit a sitemap my site gets penalized. I know people say that this is not true but every time I add my sitemap my pages disappear so I am not submitting sitemaps anymore. IF I use the tool I just submit my site without a sitemap. As far as I am concerned, sitemap are just crap.

As Brett suggested, get some quality backlinks. I would add that you need to point some incoming links to those pages that are not doing well, with regards to indexing.
Site owners don't have control over who links to them, and hence, shouldn't be penalized when bad sites link to them. It might be the work of some competitors.
You mentioned your site links to 50+ sites. Outbound links neutralizes the link juice you get from other sites. If you're involved in a kind of reciprocal link scheme, there's need for you to stop doing so.
