Ping Bing

Good question, and still no answer. Bing is much slower than google at re-crawling frequently updated sites.

I can ping google with updates to my blog www.qohel.com and almost without fail see updated results in google within an hour, sometimes minutes.

This is helpful both for webmasters and for searchers, because it gives confidence you are getting the latest and most relevant results. What is good for searchers attracts more searchers, which attracts more advertisers.

That is, regular updating, including the ability to ping when a blog is updated, means more advertising revenue.

How do I "ping" bing to notify you that the blog has been updated?  We have been using this line in Wordpress but it is now returning an error:

Hello McCain,

I suggest you use this format to ping Bing.

http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=[your site map link]

for example:- http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=http://missionjesusmom.spaces.live.com/

If you follow the previous live.com ping format, it will redirect you to Bing!!!

Thanks, that appears to have worked for me. Is there a way of pinging Bing without having to do the copy and paste as well though?

Thank you, Mindy.  Your way returns a 200 code just fine.  The old way returned a transport error.
