Hello,
I am wondering if the indexes of the local sites update quite slowly compared to the en-us one? When I switch to the english-us, I am listed at the top spot for a keyword after quite a lot of changes recently (last month), but when I go back to norwegian I am in the fifth page or so. Seems a bit strange since the competiton is larger internationaly and I have a Norwegian site.
Or is it just different algorithims? Seems strange that they are THAT different, so crossing my fingers that the local indexes updates more seldomly. (Haven't seen any movement in the last month)

I'm in New Zealand and my site doesn't even show up when I search on my company name "Stellar Web Works" on the 'Only from New Zealand' search but it shows up first for 'Show all'. Really Bizzare!
When I do a search for site:sww.co.nz and I see that my most pages are indexed (both 'show all' and 'only NZ') but the main index page is not indexed for 'only NZ'. The conclusion that I draw is that it is not just a matter of lag in the regional indexes but there are still quite a few bugs in Bing.

Aidan,
I've brought this up with our indexing team to see if we can find a solution. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

Hi Brett,
I look forward to hearing a solution. The widespread erratic regional search indexing seems to be one of the 'hot topics' on this forum so I'm sure there are a lot of other people looking forward to this solution also.
By the way, I did change the lang setting to "en-nz" as you suggested in another forum topic but it's been over a week since I made that change and it has made no difference so far.
Regards,
Aidan Curran
That is great, it really seems like there has been no movement in indexed pages for ages (i.e. months) at bing.no. (although some news articles seems to have been added on some keywords) Of course I might be looking at strange keywords, but for the ones I monitor it really haven't been ANY change at all.
(If i change to english-Us on the other hand they move around almost every day)

Just to follow up, I finally have good news to report, my site is now listed in the regional search results for New Zealand. I have to say it's a bit strange that Bing relies so heavily on the lang attribute and it leaves some interesting possibilities open - I've set up a little Bing experiment to test this.
Nice information, many thanks to the author. It is incomprehensible to me now, but in general, the usefulness and significance is overwhelming. Thanks again and good luck!
