Frequently asked questions
What is Give Mode?

Give Mode is a feature of Microsoft Rewards that enables you to support a cause you care about simply by searching on Bing.

It starts by signing up for Microsoft Rewards, our loyalty program. After joining, points earned for Bing searches will be automatically donated to your selected cause. Give Mode is currently available in the US.

What is Microsoft Rewards?

Microsoft Rewards is an easy, fun, and simple way to earn points through Microsoft products and services. Points can be redeemed for nonprofit donations, gift cards, sweepstakes entries and more.

What will happen to my existing Microsoft Rewards points?

Microsoft Rewards members who switch on Give Mode will retain their current Rewards points. You can view your balance any time in your Rewards account. Moving forward, points earned on Bing will be donated to your cause, and they’ll be tracked on Bing.

How do I turn Give Mode on and off?

To adjust your Give Mode settings, visit give.bing.com.

How do I choose a charitable organization to give to?

Once Give Mode is enabled you can select the cause you want to support from a list of over 1 million non-profit organizations in the US at give.bing.com. Currently you can designate one organization at a time.

You can updated your cause as often as you like at give.bing.com. Click on 'change nonprofit' and search for a new nonprofit. Please note that all points will be donated to the last nonprofit you select prior to final day of the month.

When does the non-profit receive the donation from the points that I donated?

Donations will be distributed to non-profits roughly six weeks after the month end of when the points were donated. Microsoft Rewards will send you an email detailing your monthly impact even though the actual donation may lag. For example, members will receive an April monthly activity statement in early May and the donation will be paid to the designated non-profit in mid-June. Your Give Mode balance will reset to zero when the donation is made and you can start earning points again at the start of the new month. You can also visit give.bing.com to see your total contributions.

How is the list of nonprofits determined?

Microsoft works with a third party to offer an extensive list of more than 1 million registered US charities. A third party also evaluates the eligibility of each organization.

Can I donate all my Microsoft Rewards points through Give Mode?

While in Give Mode, only the Microsoft Rewards points earned searching on Bing will be donated to your designated organization. To donate points earned doing other activities, redeem those points for additional donations on the Microsoft Rewards redeem page.

How will I know I've donated points?

Donations are distributed to nonprofits at the end of each month, and Microsoft Rewards will send an email detailing your monthly impact. Your Give Mode balance will reset to zero once the donation is made and you can start earning points again at the start of the new month. You can also visit give.bing.com to see your total contributions.

Does Give Mode work if I am signed in with my corporate account?

No, currently you cannot earn Microsoft Rewards points with your work account. Sign in and use Give Mode with a personal Microsoft account.

What happens if a donation cannot be delivered?
