BAUME restaurant was created with the premise of combining the modern with the ancient. The name Baume was chosen because it represents something which is scientifically classic but gastronomically modern. It fits Chef Bruno Chemel's concept by being something originally French but which is now used universally. The dining room Morewas designed with an emphasis on clarity and tranquility. Baume restaurant was built with a focus on Quality, Honesty, and a Respect for Nature. These philosophies carry from the attitude of the staff to the food itself. Our menu is built with a consideration for digestion and moderation influenced by macrobiotic cooking. With this in mind, we've prepared a small focused wine list to accent the food without overwhelming it. It is French Cuisine Moderne with a Zen Touch.

Service was also very friendly, though I felt that the waitress for our table made too much awkward small talk with us. Worst of all, I got food poisoning from the egg dish and was sick in bed for almost 2 days. I expected more from a $200 meal. Full review

The chef is well versed in molecular gastronomy, so it's not unusual … Full review

I was able to secure us a reservation on our last visit back to the Bay Area but I've been eyeing this place for years, well, ever since Top Chef mentioned molecular gastronomy... It was by far the most expensive meal I've ever had but it was also the most impressive and enjoyable (in it's own … Full review
  • Rating: 3.0 out of 5"May 13, 2014 · by brian b. from YelpThis place has to be reviewed in context. It's a michelin 2 star that focuses on molecular gastronomy. You can argue that the food is ( great ), and it is, but among michelin 2 star places at this price range, I was not impressed. The dishes didn't work all that well together, the arc of the menu didn't seem that impressive. Strange wine policy - no list, no outside wine. Full review
