Description

J.C. Parker, son of Richard Parker and brother to Ralph and Graham Parker, decided in the late 1960s to open a barbecue restaurant in Greenville, NC with his son, Doug Parker. In March of 1970, the first of two Parker's Barbecue Restaurants opened in Greenville. The Parker reputation for great Morebarbecue had preceeded them to Greenville and they have served Greenville's finest pork barbecue for nearly 40 years, drawing on the experience J.C. Parker and his brothers garnered in the early 1940s while working at Alton Respess' Barbecue Restaurant on Greene Street in Greenville.

When I think of BBQ I think of BBQ chicken or shredded/pulled pork smothered in delicious BBQ sauce. This place (which only takes cash/check, but has a convenient ATM in the front) was not like other BBQ places. You ordered off a … Read full review
  • Rating: 3.0 out of 5"by Michelle N. at Yelp User Review5/21/2012Maybe I'm just a barbecue novice but this place wasn't what I was expecting. Upon entering, make sure you have cash on you as they only accept that or checks. There is an ATM right at the entrance. Once you're seated you're served by any number of male servers, or maybe they were just happy to see … Read full review
  • Rating: 3.0 out of 5"by Stephen S. at Yelp User Review12/26/2011This place is weird--at least for someone not native to North Carolina. The atmosphere speaks more of an American Legion/Nursing Home and less of a BBQ joint. It is always packed though, so it can't be that bad. When I went, they only took cash, but it didn't seem clear by the signage--I had to … Read full review
  • Rating: 2.0 out of 5"by Ben M. at Yelp User Review9/21/2011Cash only. Kind of inconvenient. Great barbecue. Dining area sort of 1950s hospital-sterile like a public restroom. Staff efficient, but glum. The food was pretty good though. The deal is there are other barbecue places in town than to pick Parkers. Sure, I'd go again, but not highly motivated to. There's … Read full review
