NEW DELHI: Cab-hailing service Uber has tied up with restaurant-search company Zomato as it seeks to establish more touch points to connect with technophiles across the world.
Users looking for a place to dine or have drinks using the Zomato smartphone application will now be able to find the nearest Uber cab with a single tap on the restaurant page. The feature available to Zomato users in London and South Africa has now been rolled out in 27 cities in 13 countries, including places in the US, India, Australia, Canada and the UAE.
"We're constantly looking for ways to make every meal, for everyone, a great experience. This partnership makes eating out more convenient with the Zomato app connecting to Uber services seamlessly," said Pankaj Chaddah, co-founder and COO of Zomato. tnn
This is the latest move in a series of alliances initiated by the San-Francisco-based company. In the past, it had partnered with South Korean electronics giant Samsung to offer discounts to S6 and S4 Note users and Starwood Hotels & Resorts to offer guests Starpoints for every $1 spent on Uber. In India, it struck a marketing deal with Bennett & Coleman, the publisher of this newspaper, and Oxxy, a healthcare network, to offer free rides to hospitals.
India is Uber's largest market outside the US in terms of cities after the US. The company, which has recently been valued at around $42 billion, has been fighting hard to ramp up its operations here in the face of stiff regulatory hurdles.
