The state Department of Transportation is encouraging North Carolinians to get out and pedal this month.
May is National Bike Month and the department encouraging people to exercise on their bikes and communities to participate in Bike to School Day which is next Wednesday.
In addition, the department is sponsoring a photography contest in which participants can submit their best biking pictures in hopes of winning prizes.
The Walk Bike NC website (http://www.walkbikenc.com/ ) has information on the state walking and bicycling plan as well as other information on events being planned during National Bike Month.
