Earnings Expected to Increase for Expedia

Optimism surrounds Expedia, as it gets ready to report its third quarter results on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Analysts are expecting the company to book a profit of $1.62 a share, up from $1.34 a year ago.

The consensus estimate has risen from three months ago when it was $1.61. It hasn't been adjusted since. For the fiscal year, analysts are projecting earnings of $3.47 per share. Revenue is projected to be $1.68 billion for the quarter, 20% above the year-earlier total of $1.40 billion. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $5.74 billion.

The majority of analysts (53%) rate Expedia as a buy. That percentage is still below the mean analyst rating of six similar companies, which average 74% buys.

Expedia provides travel products and services to leisure and corporate travelers in the United States and abroad as well as various media and advertising offerings to advertisers. MakeMyTrip, also in the personal services industry, will report earnings on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Other companies in the personal services industry with upcoming earnings release dates include: Ctrip.com International and eLong.
