Rabid Bat in Shopping Center Triggers Rabies Warning

County Health Officials warn of rabies in the area after a rabid bat was found in a Huntington Beach shopping center.

A rabid bat was found in a shopping center parking lot in Huntington Beach this week, prompting a warning from Orange County Health Care Agency officials today.

The bat, which was still alive, was on the ground outside a Big Lots store at 6911 Warner Ave., on Sunday.

Anyone who made contact with a bat in the area was asked to call the Orange County Health Care Agency’s epidemiology department at (714) 834-8180 or (714) 834-7792 after business hours.
