Kochi airport on alert after anonymous threat letter

Kochi, Oct 24 (IBNS): High alert was sounded at the Kochi airport in Kerala on Friday following an anonymous threat letter to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with warning of flights being targeted, media reports said.

The letter was received by Director of the Airport Authority of India at Kolkata airport.

Sources said the letter reportedly claimed that the flight on Friday night from Ahmedabad to Kolkata and the early morning flight from Kochi to Mumbai will be targeted.

The source of the letter could not be traced. The matter is being investigated now.

A high-level meeting of airport officials and security experts was also convened to review the security arrangements of the airport.

All security measured were stepped up and the bomb disposal squad experts were pressed into action at the airport venue.
