Warren Award

Rosalind Johnson, assistant dean for student success in the NUCLEUS Program in UD's College of Arts and Sciences, was presented the John Warren Excellence in Leadership and Service Award during a May 26 ceremony.

The Horn Program’s Siegfried Award recognizes a person or group for their remarkable contributions to advancing entrepreneurial leadership and knowledge.

“The award’s selection criteria allow us to recognize anyone who has made outstanding contributions to the understanding and practice of entrepreneurial leadership, which may include professors, consultants, and entrepreneurs,” said Dan Freeman, director of the Horn Program.

The Siegfried Award was established by Robert L. Siegfried Jr., CEO and president of The Siegfried Group, a leading national certified public accounting firm that helps financial executives with effective leadership and successful execution.

Siegfried also serves as chair of the advisory board for UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics

A panel of three UD professors with leadership expertise and five highly successful entrepreneurs selected winning candidates. Freeman and Siegfried co-chaired the panel.

Members of the selection panel were free to nominate anyone in the world who met the selection criteria. After extensive discussion, Sullivan was unanimously selected by the panel to receive the inaugural award, which includes a $10,000 honorarium.

Panel members said that Sullivan possesses many of the qualities sought in an entrepreneurial leader, such as being a visionary, innovator, conceptual thinker, strategic planner and coach.

Prior to the award dinner, Sullivan and Siegfried spoke during a leadership education workshop organized by the Horn Program. Siegfried said he was impressed by Sullivan’s attitude and ideas.

“Dan Sullivan is a true entrepreneur who is also extremely focused on helping other entrepreneurs become more effective,” said Siegfried. “His positive, growth oriented message and mental agility are always evident and contagious. More than anything else, I believe that Dan and Strategic Coach help entrepreneurs become better leaders.”
