CINCINNATI (AP/WCMH) – Fallen officer Sonny Kim had a procession of nearly 800 police cruisers escorting him to his final resting place Friday.

Officers came from California, New York, and everyone in between.

Former Cincinnati police chief James Craig, who is now the chief in Detroit, had several of his officers accompany him.

“I am humbled to be here, absolutely humbled,” he said.

City officials, family and fellow officers spoke of his devotion to duty and love for his family and his city.

Hundreds of people packed Xavier University’s Cintas Center in Cincinnati Friday to honor Kim.

Police say the 27-year veteran was killed June 19 by an armed suspect who had made 911 calls and was seeking “suicide by cop.” The suspect was killed by police.

Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black called Kim a “true hero” and a model police officer.

The public was urged to line the procession route.
