The £105m takeover of a 100-strong manufacturer of condensate pumps based in East Sussex has been selected as Insider's Deal of the Month for February.
Aspen Pumps, based in Hailsham, manufactures and distributes specialised mini pumps which remove condensate water from air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
The company, which was founded in 1992, said it was looking to "further penetrate" international markets after being acquired by private equity giant 3i from Inflexion, which realised a return of 14x on the sale.
The business plans to enter markets in Europe, the Americas and Asia through a "number of organic and acquisitive initiatives".
Insider's news editor David Casey said: "Aspen Pumps' products are already available in more than 100 countries and the company clearly has a strong international presence. It will be both interesting and exciting to see how far the business can go with the backing of a major name in the private equity world."
3i's advisers on the transaction were Baird (corporate finance), Travers Smith (lawyers), Deloitte (financial and tax due diligence), LEK and CIL (commercial due diligence) and Arthur J Gallagher (insurance).
Inflexion was advised on the sale by Catalyst Corporate Finance and Jones Day.
