Heads Up! Upper Portion of Concord Parking Garage To Be Closed for Firefighter Training

Contra Costa County Fire will use the two uppermost sections of the parking structure at Salvio and Colfax street.

A portion of downtown Concord’s municipal parking garage at Salvio and Colfax street will be closed on Friday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon for firefighter training.

Contra Costa County Fire will use the two uppermost sections of the parking structure to simulate fighting a fire in a hotel or apartment. The firefighters will stretch a fire hose inside the structure to train 15 to 18 recruits on techniques particular to multi-story buildings. The trainees will only turn on the hoses for a few seconds at a time.

Visitors to the downtown on the morning of Dec. 5 may still park in the lower sections of the downtown garage or at the City’s second municipal garage two blocks away at Salvio and Galindo streets.
