Six-year-old raped in Delhi school

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused repeatedly raped the Class I student inside the school's cafeteria during school hours.

A six-year-old student of a renowned public school in south-east Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin area has been sexually assaulted allegedly by her physical education teacher on the school premises.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused repeatedly raped the Class I student inside the school's cafeteria during school hours. On the basis of the student's statement, a case has been registered under Section 376-(2) of the IPC and sections 4 and 5 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station. The accused has been arrested, sent to judicial custody and lodged in Tihar Jail.

"The 32-year-old accused has been identified as Jeetender Kumar, who resides in the Ambedkar Nagar area along with his wife. He has been working in the school for the past two years. The incident came to light a few days ago when the girl complained of pain in her genital to the parents," a police officer told Mail Today.

The girl, according to her parents, refused to go to school. When they asked her why she didn't want to go to school, the girl narrated her ordeal and started crying.

"The victim told her mother that her physical education teacher inappropriately touched her on the pretext of teaching her new exercise moves. The child also complained that he used to take her into the school cafeteria and sodomised her several times. We are investigating if the accused did that to other children at the school," the police officer said.

medical examination confirmed that the girl has been raped, the police said. The doctors have said that the victim, who is now undergoing a counselling session, is mentally distressed.

The accused has been produced before a magistrate, after which he was sent to the Tihar Jail on a 14-day judicial custody.
