FedEx truck freed from beneath tree in Easton alley

Easton workers had to free a delivery truck that got stuck Thursday afternoon on the city's South Side.

City firefighters, police and public works employees responded about 3:05 p.m. to the 500 block of Hoyt Street, an alley along West Wilkes Barre Street, for a FedEx truck stuck under a tree.

The driver had gone down the alley after a delivery in the area, broke off a limb and got the truck wedged underneath, fire Capt. George Leidy said.

City workers used a chainsaw to cut away the broken limb, and air was taken out of the truck's air suspension to lower it enough to clear the rest of the tree, Leidy said.

Officials cleared the incident about 4:15 p.m.
