Cincinnati – Macy’s today said it will relocate its Sacramento, Calif.-based direct-to-consumer fulfillment center to a larger site nearby to accommodate growth across its omni-channel platform.

Contingent on approvals by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Macy’s expects to start operations this summer at the 385,000-square-foot facility, located at 6200 Franklin St. The expansion calls for 100 new jobs on site.

The current fulfillment center – which is about 10 miles away in West Sacramento – measures 92,000 square feet and employs 72 associates.

Macy’s will conduct a “multi-million-dollar upgrade” to the new site, it said, that will include building modifications and the latest technology in material handling equipment and warehouse management systems.

“Our West Sacramento fulfillment center, combined with our fulfillment center in Goodyear, AZ, have been very successful in serving customers in the western United States,” said R.B. Harrison, Macy’s Inc. chief omnichannel officer.
