Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Wednesday included:

Bank of New York Mellon Corp., a profit of $766 million, or 67 cents a share, up from $661 million, or 57 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 5.6 percent to $3.85 billion. Shares rose $1.39 to close at $42.43.

D.R. Horton Inc., the largest U.S. homebuilder by revenue, a profit of $147.9 million, or 40 cents a share, up from $131 million, or 38 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $2.34 billion from $1.7 billion. Shares fell $1.53 to close at $27.03.

McDonald’s, the fast-food chain, a profit of $811.5 million, or 84 cents a share, down from $1.2 billion, or $1.21 a share, a year ago. Revenue fell to $5.96 billion from $6.7 billion. Shares rose $2.97 to close at $97.84.

Six Flags Entertainment Corp., a loss of $70.3 million, or 75 cents per share, from a loss of $61.2 million, or 64 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue was $85.2 million. Shares rose $1.37 to close at $49.97.
