Sky View star cross country runner Conner Mantz has been named the 2014-15 Gatorade Utah Boys Cross Country of the Year for the second straight years.

The award is based on athletic, academic and character. State winners are eligible to be named as the national boys cross country runner of the year.

The 5-foot-8, 120-pound senior finished 10th in the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championship this past season, earning all-American honors. He won the Bob Firman Invitational, the Aggie Invitational, the Highland Invitational and the Region Five championship and finished second in the Class 4A state championship. He finished fifth at the foot Locker West Regional championships.

Mantz has a 4.0 average, is a talented musician and is an Eagle Scout. He has not committed to a college yet.

"Conner has an incredible work ethic and a desire to be the best," said Sky View coach Kyle Wright. "He's also a great leader at practice, during school hours and in life."
