The six-year-old says the Hindi teacher raped her

The six-year-old girl, who was sexually abused at a school in Jeevanbimanagar on Tuesday and Wednesday, had gone to school on Thursday.

However, at work, the mother broke down while narrating the incident to a male colleague, who then went to the school and brought the child back home.

After being unable to get through to the child helpline, they contacted Child Welfare Committee members, who then took the child to the C.V. Raman Nagar Government Hospital.

The paediatric head confirmed it as a medico-legal case. But since no forensic doctors were present, police took the child to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Shivajinagar.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar said that based on the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the teacher has now been detained. In her complaint, the mother stated that the child was sexually abused twice.

The victim has also identified the perpetrator. Police have booked a case under sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, S.M. Ramesh, Block Education Officer (South 4), who visited the school on Thursday night said that none of the management members was available. He said that the school was an English medium State syllabus school and had classes from nursery to class 10 with over 1,000 students.

“I will visit the school and conduct a detailed inquiry on Friday and submit a report in this regard to my senior officials,” he said.
