Boys’ Tennis: Gladiators sweep Bison

BUFFALO GAP – The Riverheads Gladiators swept past the short-handed Buffalo Gap Bison 9-0 on Wednesday in boys’ tennis.

The Bison only have four players on their roster, meaning they are in a 3-0 hole before the first serve is ripped.

In the four singles matches played, Freddie Roberts and Eric Alanko scored 8-0 victories, while James Rea won 8-5 and Ben Armstrong took an 8-1 decision.

Riverheads (2-0) travels Monday to Parry McCluer, while the Bison (0-1) head to Alleghany on Tuesday.

SINGLES — Roberts (R) d. Hawes 8-0; Alanko (R) d. Gruber 8-0; Rea (R) d. Graham 8-5; Armstrong (R) d. Ballew 8-1; Fisher (R) won by forfeit; Farrish (R) won by forfeit.

DOUBLES — Roberts-Alanko (R) d. Hawes-Gruber 8-3; Rea-Armstrong (R) d. Graham-Ballew 8-0; Fisher-Hypes (R) won by forfeit.
