The WWE Network has dropped the need for a six-month commitment.

The over-the-top subscription-based video-streaming service has been available in the US and much of the world for $9.99, subject to a six-month rolling contract.

Today (October 30), subscribers have been informed of the change via email.

"Great News! WWE Network is now $9.99 per month with no commitment," read the message.

"That's right. You'll continue to get every LIVE pay-per-view, access to our massive on-demand library and more for the same $9.99 per month you currently pay, but without a 6-month commitment!

"There is no action required on your part. On your billing date in December, your WWE Network subscription will automatically convert to a no commitment account and will continue uninterrupted for $9.99 per month, plus applicable taxes."

Meanwhile, WWE chairman Vince McMahon has announced that new subscribers to the WWE Network will get the month of November, including the Survivor Series pay-per-view, for free.

"When I announced the WWE Network I said then it was a great day to be a WWE fan, and now it's an ever greater day, "said McMahon.

"For new subscribers the entire month of November - including Survivor Series - is free. That's right.

"Did he say that if you go to WWE.com and you sign up, that for new subscribers they get the whole month of November including Survivor Series for free? Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!"

Last month, it was confirmed that the UK launch of the WWE Network, originally slated for October, had been delayed.

A new launch date is to be confirmed at the start of next month.

Reports of a potential partnership deal are thought to be behind the delay, following confirmation that BSkyB will continue to exclusively broadcast WWE's flagship shows in the UK and Ireland through to 2019.

There is speculation BSkyB may become involved in a deal similar to the Canadian pay channel set-up between WWE and Rogers Communications.

The WWE Network was first announced in January this year, launching in the US the following month.

It was rolled out to a further 170 territories in August, including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, Spain and the Nordics.
