Woman admits having fake birth certificate in bid to gain passport

A Smethwick woman has pleaded guilty to possessing a fake birth certificate and making a false statement to get a passport.

Patricia Jarrett, of Cheshire Road, admitted seven charges of fraud at Wolverhampton Crown Court spanning four years.

The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of a fake birth certificate; making false representation to obtain a provisional driving licence; possession of the driving licence and making an untrue statement to obtain a passport.

She has also admitted making two false claims to the Department for Work and Pensions and another to Sandwell Borough Council to obtain benefits.

The offences date from June 2010 to September of this year.

Jarrett made her pleas via a video link and will be sentenced at the court on November 13.
