Head of Finance

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Head of Finance for a non-for-profit, education organisation who are going through a crucial but exciting phase of their development. The successful applicant will be motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable who is experienced in strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities
-To assist Senior Management in the preparation of an annual plan and budget and to ensure achievement of the budget when approved by the Governing Body
-To maintain, with the assistance of the Finance Officer, the computer-based financial and management accounting systems for the academy
-To prepare, with the assistance of the Finance Officer, management and financial accounts
-To ensure the effective implementation and operation of financial controls
-To prepare cash-flow
-To ensure prompt and efficient completion of monthly, quarterly and annual returns, as required by the Governing Body and by outside bodies including the EFA, local authority, pension schemes and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs
-To act as the key contact for the annual audit
-To maintain regular liaison with banks and auditors
-To monitor service level agreements and contracts to ensure effectiveness of delivery and value for money
-To complete financial needs analysis
-To review and maximise income generation
-To negotiate and set up all insurance cover (e.g. personal liability, cars, school trips etc.) and provide advice and support on any claims
-To advise on all aspects of insurance

The Benefits
The basic salary is £50,000 to £55,000 depending on skills and experience, plus defined benefits pension scheme, free onsite parking, private healthcare and flexible working hours.
